Stream the new LP from Dayve Hawk Grace/Confusion
Although Grace/Confusion is departure from his previous work, Fans of Davye Hawk (Memory Tapes) as a composer will be more than elated with the follow-up to 2011′s Classic Player Piano.
Stream Grace/Confusion Below.
Hawk told MTV Hive that the new songs are longer, “messier,” and “more experimental,” to reflect the chaotic mindset he was experiencing when it was written. He also said the next Memory Tapes record “won’t be anything like [Grace/Confusion].”
Hawk explained:
At the time I made this record, I felt like a mess… I wanted the record to seem like a mess. I didn’t want three-minute singles; that didn’t seem appropriate… When I was looking back at my previous records, I felt I had put too many limitations on myself. I got tired of that and I wanted to lift all the restrictions I had put on myself. I was in a place where I was kind of confused and lost in general, in life, and I decided to embrace that and make almost a prog record or something that would usually be fueled by bad judgment. I wanted to do it intentionally as being representative of my state of mind.
Grace/Confusion is out December 4th on Carpark.
