RAPID FIRE IV: Summer’s Sandwich…

MAX ESSA – “How Do You Feel” (Ft. DC Mathias) (Kim Ann Foxman Remix)

A Perfect summer tune.  Max Essa is a Japanese producer, this is his new Project/Group Needwant, and subsequent début single “How Do You Feel.”   It goes with saying that Remixer, Kim Ann Foxman, beefed up this track giving it a more house-friendly groove that will make it more palatable to the ears of most. D.C Mathis contributes the low-slung soul vocals to make this an all-purpose track.

BLITZEN TRAPPER – “Maybe Baby”

Folk Rockers, Blitzen Trapper, have just announced their fifth album in five years, American Goldwing, on the all-knowing Sub Pop records.  Every song of theirs is catchy and to the point, but are more complex than your average pop song.

With this release, Blitzen Trapper have aimed at evoking “a true American nostalgia” with “the hard guitar rock and country picking of our younger years mixed with glimmers of our usual space-aging technology and pawn shop Casios… Heavy guitar riffs and blasting drum fills live side-by-side with plucking banjos, wailing harmonicas and muddy slide guitars.”

American Goldwing ETA: September 13th.

BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB – “Shuffle”

Bombay Bicycle Club has dropped their new single, “Shuffle,” via their soundcloud page. The London 4-piece has already put out 3 EPs, and 2 full length albums, all of which are worth your attention.

This new single can be considered a “greatest hit” track, being as ambitious and well-rounded as any of their previous tracks to date.

Expect this track on their next album, A Different Kind of Fix, coming to the interwebs August 29th.

WASHED OUT: Within and Without (2011)

I didn’t give Washed Away enough credit.  I thought their über popular single “Eyes Be Closed” was going to be their apex, and that nothing else on their new LP, Within and Without, would come close.

Well…I was wrong – and it’s a good thing.

JUNIOR BOYS – “A Truly Happy Ending” (Diamond Rings Remix)

Canadian electro-poppers Diamond Rings and Junior Boys have come together in the finest of fine.  Junior Boys have just released their fourth full length, It’s All True, and Diamond Rings (real name = John O-Regan), has just remixed “A Truly Happy Ending.”

This is the last installment in his Rainbow Remix Series, where he has been remixing another artist every week and putting it up on his Soundcloud page. Both Canadian pop outfits have been fairly busy, respectively touring to promote their albums — Diamond Rings is re-releasing Special Affections in the U.S. and just signed to label Astralwerks — and this remix is a bold declaration that Canadian electro pop is taking over!
